BID Teams up with TONH and North Hempstead Waterfront Advisory Committee (WAC)

The Greater Port Washington Business Improvement District (BID) has teamed up with the TONH and the North Hempstead Manhasset Bay Waterfront Advisory Committee (WAC) to create a “Welcome to Port Washington” bag for boaters.

The BID has purchased re-usable tote bags to be given out to every visitor that comes to use the free transient moorings at the Port Washington Town Dock. A letter was issued to all businesses within the BID district inviting them to include something for the bag. Also, the bag includes places of interest, things to do and of course the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce’s “Try Port First” book which list every business located in Port Washington by category and alphabetically.

“Last year I proposed with the North Hempstead Waterfront Advisory Commission the idea of providing the many boaters that visit Port Washington during the summer months with a welcome bag to encourage them to shop and dine at our local stores and restaurants. I can’t thank the Port Washington BID enough for helping to make this idea into a reality, and I wanted to give a special thanks to Paul Oleksiw and Mariann Dalimonte for working with local merchants to organize the materials for the bags.” said Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio

The TONH has 20 transient moorings, which are free of charge and can be used by boaters for up to 48 hours. Thank you to the TONH Bay Constables for distributing these bags to the boaters and for patrolling our waters to ensure that our residents and visitors are safe. The Manhasset Bay moorings have one of the highest ratings as reported by the interactive cruising guidebook activecaptian.com.

“The Greater Port Washington Business Improvement District, the Town and the North Hempstead Waterfront Advisory Committee came up with a terrific way to welcome the cruising community to Port Washington. My thanks to the BID for putting these ‘goodie bags’ together for those visitors who use our transient moorings.” said North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth

Mariann Dalimonte, Executive Director of the BID, stated “We are so excited to be working with the TONH and the WAC committee on this new project. We have received coupons and information from The Dolphin Bookshop & Café, Frank’s Pizza, Suite 275, Ayhan’s Shish Kebab, Mediterranean Marketplace, f.i.sh. on Main, Arena Sport & Graphics, Carnel’s Printing & Copy Center, Delux Transportation Services, Wings Plus, Painting with Flowers, White + 1, Bubba Brown Treasures, Douglas & James Homemade Ice Cream, Atlantic Outfitters, TONH Summer Guide, TONH Parks & Facilites in Port, Sands Point Preserve, Landmark on Main Street, Cinema on the Bay (RFMPBW), John Philip Sousa Band Shell Concert Dates and more…. By doing this we are showing all of these visitors what a wonderful community we have!”
